Fantasy football waiver wire, Week 15: Injuries and potential replacements

Brandon Marshall went down on Thursday to start the list of injuries from Week 14. We break down the fantasy implications.

Week 14 was a disaster in a lot of areas. Fantasy owners were burned all over the place with Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon, Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and a host of others stinking it up.

There were not a lot of injuries and most fantasy owners shouldn't have a tough time getting a decent lineup together this week. Most weeks, running back is the position with the most carnage, but that wasn't a big story from Week 14. Receiver was really the bad spot this week and owners of Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson and Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall will need to come up with some contingency plans.

Here are the injuries from last week at the top, with the older ones below:

Quarterback

Who: Zach MettenbergerTennessee Titans
What: Suffered another shoulder injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season
Impact: Jake Locker should take over the rest of the way, assuming he stays healthy.

Who: Colt McCoy, Washington
What: Suffered a strained neck and had to go to the hospital
Impact: Robert Griffin III will likely get another start, but there's really no way fantasy owners can count on him.

Running back

Who: Roy Helu, Washington
What: Suffered a foot injury and did not return
Impact: Alfred Morris was a disaster but would get more chances on Sunday should Helu miss time.

Wide receiver

Who: Brandon Marshall, Chicago Bears
What: Suffered a rib injury and is out for the year
Impact: Marquess Wilson will likely start and has some fantasy value.

Who: Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
What: Suffered a concussion and will have to go through the protocol
Impact: DeAndre Hopkins should put up big numbers next week. Johnson should not be cut.

Who: Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis Colts
What: Dealing with some knee and elbow pain
Impact: T.Y. Hilton has been a stud all year and Hakeem Nicks would benefit if Wayne sits. This sounds minor.

Who: Percy Harvin, New York Jets
What: Suffered an ankle sprain and could miss the rest of the season
Impact: Jeremy Kerley should get more snaps, but the Jets aren't good enough on offense.

Tight end

Who: Julius Thomas, Denver Broncos
What: Didn't play on Sunday due to an ankle sprain, but could have according to his coach
Impact: He should be better for Week 15.

Who: Ladarius Green, San Diego Chargers
What: Suffered a concussion
Impact: He was a popular sleeper, but the snaps just aren't there.
