The 140th Kentucky Oaks, the sister race to the Kentucky Derby, runs Friday at Churchill Downs. The race for 3-year-old fillies has surged in popularity in recent years, slowly ascending from its status as a favorite event for Louisville natives.

Untapable remains a distinct favorite at 4-5, but is running from the No. 13 post, the furthest outside in the 13-filly race. Untapable's trainer is Steve Asmussen, who trained Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Oaks champion that later went on to win the Preakness Stakes and become 2009's Horse of the Year.
The second choice in the Oaks is Fashion Plate at 6-1.
Live coverage of the Kentucky Oaks begins Friday on NBC Sports Network at 3 p.m. ET. The Oaks is the 11th race of the day at Churchill Downs, and is set to post at about 5:45 p.m. ET. A forecast for Friday indicates a 10 percent chance of rain with a high of 64 degrees in Louisville, so weather shouldn't be of much concern for the 13 fillies in Friday's big race.
