UFC Fight Night 53 - Live 'Nelson vs Story' results and play-by-play

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will kick-off its latest day-night double header this Saturday afternoon (Oct. 4, 2014) from Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, with another Fight Pass-only international special.

Rick lands a body kick, can't land the left hand. Good low kick trips Gunnar up. Clinch attempt denied. Nelson high kick likewise blocked. Story prods the body with a left, lands one up top. Round one: Corassani sticks out his jab. Holloway high kick blocked. 1-2-3 from Corassani lands clean. Holloway high kick blocked again. One minute in. Corassani lands an overhand right. Another overhand conncets for Akira. Low kick lands. Holloway connects with a straight left. Body kick lands for him. Corassani leg kick. Two minutes in. 3-2 from Akira. Holloway just misses with a high kick, lands a right hand. Leg kick. Akira lands an overhand, but gets dropped with a 1-2. Holloway unloading on him with punches and tries to attack in the clinch, but Akira ties him up. Akira lands an overhand on the break, then gets destroyed by another 1-2. The referee steps in way too late as Holloway pounds on an unconscious Corassani.

205 lbs.: Jan Blachowicz vs. Ilir Latifi

Round one: Low kick from Blachowicz to start. Latifi ducks a high kick. Jan with another low kick. One minute in. Straight right connects. Latifi counters a low kick with an overhand left and tries to rush him. Blackwocz low kick and a hard body kick forces Latifi to retreat. Blachowicz fires a head kick and Latifi tries to shoot, but the body kick sapped him. He falls to his hands and knees and eats punches until the referee steps in.

Final result: Blachowicz def. Latifi by TKO (body kick and punches)

145 lbs.: Niklas Backstrom vs. Mike Wilkinson

Round one: Both men throw low kicks. Wilkinson wheel kick falls way short. Wilkinson catches a low kick, can't do anything with it. Backstrom wheel kick likewise falls short. Front kick as well. Hard low kick from Backstrom. Checks one from Wilkinson. One minute in. Backstrom grazes him with a front kick and lands a pair of knees in the clinch. Front kick lands clean, but Wilkinson counters with a perfect overhand right that puts Backstrom completely to sleep.

Final result: Wilkinson def. Backstrom by KO (punch)

185 lbs.: Scott Askham vs. Magnus Cedenblad

Round one: Askham firing off high kicks early. Good knee to the body by Cedenblad. Cedenblad eats a left hand and shoots in against the fence. One minute in  Cedenblad pressing him against the cage. After a struggle, Cedenblad lifts him and takes him down into guard. Two minutes in. Cedenblad unable to throw so far. Askham controlling his posture. Two minutes left.

Short punches to the body from Cedenblad. He manages to posture up a bit and drop hammerfists. Elbow from Magnus. One minute to go. Askham still looking to control posture. Elbow from Magnus. Round ends with Magnus still on top. 10-9 Cedenblad.

Round two: Askham low kick and body kick connect. He blocks a Cedenblad high kick. Magnus shoots in and completes the double-leg against the fence. One minute in. Cedenblad on top in guard. Askham so far preventing any ground-and-pound or passing. The referee elects to stand them up two minutes in. Cedenblad pops him with a right hand and presses him against the fence. Knees from Cedenblad. Askham gets the bodylock and reverses. Cedenblad trips him down when he tries to move toward the back, but Askham regains dominant position on the fence. Two minutes to go.

Jockeying for position against the cage. Both men constantly reversing. Referee separates them as Askham lands some knees. One minute to go. HUGE front kick to the face sends Cedenblad to the mat. Askham doesn't jump on him immediately, which allows Cedenblad to shoot in. Askham denies it and starts mauling him against the fence. Cedenblad ties him up, but continues to eat strikes until the bell. 10-9 Askham.

Round three: Askham with a low kick to start. Cedenblad fires a high kick and shoots in. Askham actually picks Cedenblad up with the switch, but Cedenblad stays on him. Cedenblad takes dominant position against the fence after a good scramble. One minute in. Cedenblad gets the rear waistlock and takes Askham to his knees. Askham rolls through and Cedenblad takes half guard. Short shots from Cedenblad. Two minutes in. Askham regains full guard and an overhook. More short blows from the Swede. Two minutes to go.

Askham throwing his legs up, unable to lock anything up. Askham still using overhook control to limit Cedenblad'y ground-and-pound. One minute to go. Referee stands them up with 45 to go. Askham lands a body kick, eats one from Cedenblad and lands a let hand. Good left hook and body knee from Askham. He moves into the clinch and lands some knees. Cedenblad answers and shoots in to end the round. 10-9 Cedenblad.

170 lbs.: Nicholas Musoke vs. Alexander Yakovlev

Round one: Yakovlev tries to change levels as Musoke presses forward. Musoke presses him against the cage with double underhooks. Knees inside from Musoke. One minute in. Musoke continuing to land short knees and punches. Yakovlev makes space. Body kick from the Russian. Low kick. He again changes levels, looking for a single-leg, but gets stuffed and pressed into the cage once again. Two minutes in. Musoke chiseling away inside. Knees to the leg and body.Two minutes to go.

Yakovlev separates. Again, Musoke stops a takedown and moves him to the fence. Yakovlev again makes room, eating a right as he does. Yakovlev to the body, Musoke looking to counter. One mionute to go. Yakovlev with a left hand upstairs, takedown stuffed right after. Musoke body kick. High kick blocked. Once again. Good right hook from Yakovlev. 3-2 as he exchanges with Nico. Musoke lands a knee to the body to end the round. 10-9 Musoke.

Round two: Yakovlev opens with a right hook. Musoke gets in on a leg, settles for moving him to the fence. Yakovlev separates. Good jab from Musoke. Right uppercut from Yakovlev. Musoke pops him with the jab. One minute in. Yakovlev low kick. Once again. Straight to the body, low kick met by a Musoke body kick. Musoke moves him to the fence once again. Yakovlev circles free. Yakovlev catches a body kick, can't capitalize. They trade punches near the cage. Two minutes in. Yakovlev presses him against the cage, gets reversed. Knees from Musoke and he lands a right straight as Yakovlev exits. Counter hook. Musoke body kick and knee. Left hook. Two minutes to go.

Yakovlev low kick and left straight, Musoke left hook. Nice 1-2 from Musoke, Yakovlev answers with the straight left. Musoke easily stuffs another takedown and moves to the fence. One minute to go. They return to center cage. Musoke using his left to counter well. Musoke body kicks. Yakovlev body punch met by another body kick. Musoke kneeing the legs, lands a good one to the body. Round three: Musoke high kick blocked. Again as Yakovlev tries a leg kick. Musoke stops another takedown. Musoke head kick blocked. Musoke shoots in against the fence. Yakovlev eats a right hand after defending and exiting. One minute in. Musoke popping Yakovlev with counters. Yakovlev body shot. Musoke stops another shot and it's right back to the cage. Yakovlev reverses and exits. Overhand left from Yakovlev. Left straight. Two minutes in. Musoke right straight, Yakovlev right hook. 1-2 from Yakovlev. Musoke straight right. Musoke takes a left hand. Yakovlev throws a combination to disguise a shot, still gets stopped and pushed into the fence. Two minutes to go.

Round one: Rosa opening up with kicks high and low. Siver with a counter right hand. Left hook after blocking a sequence of high kicks. Rosa lands a combination. One minute in. Good exchange in center cage. Counter hook from Siver. Rosa very active with his legs. Good overhand right from Rosa. Lead left by Rosa. Siver ducksa punch and takes him down right into side control. Two minutes in. Rosa looking to get his knee-shield in. Siver passes back into side control. Short blows from Siver. Siver latches onto an arm-triangle and hops over onto the opposite side. Two minutes to go.

Rosa answering the phone to defend. Siver con't complete it and drops some punches. Rosa snags a kneebar, which Siver works his way out of. Rosa continues to threaten submissions until Siver stands. One minute to go. Body kick and left hook from Siver. Rosa with a body kick. Siver spinning back kick comes up short. Lead right by Rosa. Leg kick. High kick blocked. They exchange in center cage before the bell. 10-9 Siver.

Round two: Rosa high kicks blocked. Siver leg kick lands. Rosa very active with his high kicks, with a few low ones snuck in. Siver with some good low kicks. Siver ducks a high kick and Rosa slips. Rosa returns to his feet, eating a few punches for his trouble. One minute in. Siver winning the punching exchanges and completes a takedown near the fence. Siver on top in open guard. Rosa gives up his back when trying to stand, but quickly reverses into Siver's guard. Two minutes in. Siver scrambles back to his feet. Rosa high kick. Rosa catches a low kick and brings Siver to the mat. Siver sweeps him as Rosa tries to take side control. Siver on top in side mount. Now full mount. Two minutes to go.

Siver fully in mount now. Rosa manages to regain half guard and sweeps Siver when he grabs a headlock. Siver quickly takes top position again. Rosa regains guard. One minute to go. Elbows from the bottom. Siver passes to half guard. Siver heavy on top. Rosa turns for a leglock and attempts to take his back before the bell. 10-9 Siver.

Round three: Siver with a counter left hook. Rosa catches a leg kick and takes him down. Siver up in a hurry. Siver does the same to him. Rosa looking for a leglock. Toe hold attempt. One minute in. Siver spins free and into half guard. Side control. Rosa turns, but gives up his back doing so. Rosa nearly reverses but Siver takes mount. Two minutes in. Rosa regains guard. Siver with some ground-and-pound. Rosa throws his legs up for an armbar/triangle, Siver uses it to pass. Two minutes to go.

Rosa gives up his back, Siver can't get his hooks in and takes side control. Rosa manages to stand amidst some punches from Siver. Nice counter hook from Siver. Spinning back kick hurts Rosa late. Rosa hits the mat from a knee and Siver takes his back. One minute to go. Now mount for Siver, dropping short punches all the while. Rosa uses the cage to escape mount, but gives up his back once again. Rosa reverses into top position and tries to drop some desperate punches. Siver snatches an armbar, but can't break Rosa's grip before the bell. 10-9 Siver.

170 lbs.: Cathal Pendred vs. Gasan Umalatov

Round one: Pendred advancing early. Umalatov whacks him with a couple right hands as he gets moved into the cage. Umalatov avoids the takedown and separates. Pendred again rushes in after an overhand right but can't get the tie-up, eating a right in the process. One minute in. Pendred shoots in yet again. Pendred in on his hips against the fence. Umalatov defending well. Pendred lifts him and manages to complete the takedown two minutes in. Umalatov uses the cage to stand, is still being pressed against it. Knees inside from both. They separate before long. Pendred high kick blocked and takedown denied. Two minutes to go.

Umalatov lands a lovely counter right hand. 3-2 from Umalatov as Pendred wades in. Umalatov circles free before long. Pendred low kick. One minute to go. Inside low kick this time. Umalatov spinning back kick denied. He counters a low kick with a left hook but falls short. Umalatov ducks a right hand. Pendred counters a kick with punches, eats the same soon after. Umalatov briefly spins him to the ground with a single-leg. There's the bell, 10-9 Umalatov.

Round two: Pendred starts with an inside leg kick. Another soon after. Pendred wheel kick comes up short, low kick does not. Lead uppercut. Left hook lands. One minute in. Pendred tries to change levels, is quickly denied. Low kick. Check hook from Umalatov as he takes a right hand. Another wheel kick attempt. Umalatov leg kick. Good three-punch counter sequence by Umalatov. Umalatov is meeting him with right hands as he enters. Two minutes in. Big 3-2 drops Pendred. The Irishman scrambles up to his feet and ties up. Umalatov with some hard right hands from inside the clinch. Pendred survives and separates. Two minutes to go.

Pendred low kick. Umalatov tries a wheel kick. Pendred has a pair of takedowns denied. Low kick. Nice counter uppercut from Umalatov, Pendred lands a knee to the body. One minute to go. Round three: Pendred low kicks to start. Another failed wheel kick. Lead uppercut from PEndred. Left hook from Gasan. One minute in. Pendred continuing to target the leg. Umalatov with a low kick, comes up short when trying to counter one from Pendred. Left hook lands off a low kick, then again. Pendred left hand as he advances. Two minutes in. Pendred leg kick and left hook. Another good leg kick. Counter lefts from Umalatov. Umalatov wheel kick comes up short, overhand right does not. Pendred lands a lead overhand and shoots in. Umalatov denies the takedown. Another takedown denied. Quick exchange in center cage. Pendred lands a lead uppercut, eats a right hand. Low kick. One minute to go. Pendred still prodding at the lead leg. Left hook from Umalatov. Pendred shoots in  and is stuffed once again. Umalatov whacks him with a couple of punches on the exit. Round one: Jotko lands a left hand early. Troeng changes levels and presses Jotko against the cage with the bodylock. Jotko denies some trip attempts. One minute in. Jotko still on his feet. Now he reverses and exits the clinch. Right hook and left hand from Jotko. Counter left connects and Tor changes levels. Jotko denies the takedown but gets moved to the fence again. Two minutes in. Troeng trying to get in on his hips. Tor gets him down but can't keep him there. Jotko makes space after they stand. Two minutes to go.

Jotko sprawls on a shot and moves him to the fence. Level elbow by Jotko. Short left hand, but Troeng reverses and presses Jotko against the cage. One minute to go. Short knees from Troeng. Jotko retaliates to the legs. They separate with about 30 seconds left. Troeng lands a straight right, takes a counter left soon after. Jotko clubs him with a 3-2 before the bell. 10-9 Troeng.

Round two: Jotko sneaks in a straight left. Right hook skims off of Tor's head. Jotko trying to time the upward elbow as Tor advances. Tor shoots in, is stuffed and eats a right on the way out. Troeng low kick. Jotko stops another takedown, knees the body, and moves Tor to the fence. One minute in. Short uppercut before Tor breaks out. Counter right hook from Jotko. Tor moves into the clinch, barely avoids an uppercut on the exit. Jotko mugs Tor on the fence and moves into the clinch. Good elbow by Jotko. Two minutes in. Jotko landing knees to the body. An elbow up top and he tosses Troeng to the mat when he tries to shoot. Jotko whacking him with knees to the body while Troeng turtles and punches up top when he stands. Tor survives the onslaught and manages to get back to his feet, much bloodier than before. Two minutes to go.

Tor clinches again, manages to move him to the fence this time. Jotko reverses and lands a knee downstairs. Level elbow and another heavy knee. One minute to go. Jotko uppercut. Elbow as they separate. Jotko avoids an overhand at the bell. 10-9 Jotko.

Round three: Jotko looks very tired as well at this point. Troeng shoots in against the fence. Jotko denies a trip attempt but is still tied up. One minute in. Good short uppercut by Troeng. He tries to change levels, which lets Jotko spin out and press him against the fence. Troeng reverses. Troeng completes a trip, but gets reversed immediately. Back to their feet, Jotko pressing him. Two minutes in. Tor reverses. Short elbow by Jotko as they split. Tor stumbles as he tries to punch, takes an elbow from Jotko. Knee to the body from Jotko, Tor presses him against the fence. Two minutes to go.

Knee to the body from Jotko before they separate. Tor tries to rush him, does not connect. Jotko connects with the rising elbow and gets in on Tor's hips against the fence. One minute to go. Jotko gets him down to his seat and lands some right hands. Knee to the body by Jotko as Tor stands. Jotko stays on a leg but can't complete the takedown. Tor with one last desperate shot, gets hit by a right hook and is sprawled on. 10-9 Jotko.

Final result: Jotko def. Troeng by unanimous decision

Round one: Bandel tries to tie up immediately, cannot do so. Counter uppercut from Taisumov, Bandel whacks him with a right hand. Taisumov lands a low kick. Lead right cross sends Bandel crumbling to the mat. He's all out of sorts and a couple more shots move the referee to action.

Final result: Taisumov def. Bandel by TKO (punches)

145 lbs.: Ernest Chavez vs. Zubaira Tukhugov

Round one: Chavez on the front foot early. Body kick from Tukhugov. Chavez coming up short with punches. Body kick lands for him. One minute in. Tukhugov lands a counter left hook. High kick blocked. Lead left hook and low kick from Tukhugov, spinning back kick comes up short. Chavez's right eye is damaged. Two minutes in. Nice cross by Tukhugov, followed by a flurry upstairs. Lead right hand after blocking a high kick. Chavez lands a leg kick, eats another counter hook. Spinning backfist and left by Tukhugov. Counter right by Chavez, he again walks into the left hand. Two minutes to go.

Tukhugov cracks him with another counter and lands a flush spinning backfist. Tukhugov lands a pair of left hands. Chavez low kick. One minute to go. Tukhugov buckles him with a right cross. Chavez hits the deck and Tukhugov looks to pounce. Chavez makes it back to his feet but Tukhugov doesn't give him room to breathe, burying him in punches until he goes down once more, prompting the referee to step in.

Final result: Tukhugov def. Chavez by TKO (punches)
