Fantasy football rankings, Week 8: Quarterbacks

Bye weeks and injuries continue to force quarterbacks out of our lineups. We also look at the potential of a top fantasy quarterback returning this week. Here are our fantasy football quarterback rankings for Week 8.

Finally, some good news on the quarterback injury front. Big Ben should be back this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Landry Jones really struggled in his first start last week. He was responsible for three turnovers and only one touchdown. Although, he still seemed like a better fit for the offense than Michael Vick. Roethlisberger will hopefully be close to a hundred percent and able to move around enough to avoid the rush. With Martavis Bryant back in the starting lineup, the passing game will be as potent as ever. The Bengals' defense will provide a stiff test but the Steelers and Big Ben should be able to have a strong performance.

The Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington are all on bye this week. EJ Manuel has not improved since losing the starting job, which we saw on display in Week 7. The Bills lost because of his two costly interceptions. The good news is that Tyrod Taylor should be ready to go in Week 9. Blake Bortles is having a really good season so far. The Jaguars have surrounded him with skill position talent and it's showing in his fantasy point totals. Sam Bradford continues to disappoint in Philadelphia. If he doesn't turn things around soon, we could have a Mark Sanchez sighting. Kirk Cousins delivered a huge game in Week 7. DeSean Jackson could return after the break and that makes Cousins a strong option for the stretch run.

Marcus Mariota may play in Week 8 but it depends on how much practice time he gets in this week. Zach Mettenberger played an average game but would get another chance if Mariota can't go. Josh McCown suffered a shoulder injury in Week 7. His availability is up in the air for Week 8. Johnny Manziel would start against Arizona if McCown sits out. That would not be a favorable matchup and it would be wise to stay away from either quarterback this week.

As a bye week replacement, I would recommend Teddy Bridgewater. Stefon Diggs has become a great addition to the Vikings' passing game. Minnesota will face Chicago this week in a very positive matchup for Bridgewater. The Bears' pass defense is not as good as past years and can be easily taken advantage of. If your quarterback is on bye or injured, stream Bridgewater this week.
