Danny Green is not so subtly recruiting LaMarcus Aldridge to the Spurs

Not long after re-signing with San Antonio, Green was trying to get the top player on the market to join him.

Danny Green is back with the San Antonio Spurs after re-signing in free agency and clearly he hopes LaMarcus Aldridge will join him. The Spurs guard, who agreed to a four-year, $45 million deal with the team on Wednesday, made comments to reporters and on social media that made it clear he wants Aldridge in San Antonio.

"I'm very excited to be back, especially because it looks like we might be getting some other pieces. We have a good future," Green told ESPN's Chris Broussard on Wednesday. That's a fairly clear hint toward Aldridge, one that was far more subtle than this tweet he sent out after signing. Here's a screenshot of the tweet, which was deleted soon after it went up (via @OwlPress):

Aldridge is reportedly set to meet with the Spurs on Wednesday after already talking with the Los Angeles Lakers. That meeting reportedly failed to make a "strong impression" on the 29-year-old, however, leaving the Spurs with the opportunity to close a deal on him soon.

Signing with the Spurs would help give Aldridge a shot at a championship, something that never really came together during his nine years with the Portland Trail Blazers. That alone may be enough to convince him to sign with San Antonio, but it certainly doesn't hurt when a talented player who just took a significant discount to leave money on the table is out there recruiting you.
