Rays rookie gets silent treatment, so he high-fives air

The newly called up rookie received quite the celebration in the dugout.

Tampa Bay Rays rookie Richie Shaffer could not have asked for a better first major league hit Tuesday night. It turned out to be a home run, as the Rays walloped the Chicago White Sox 11-3. And the delayed celebration his new teammates gave him, along with his parents' reaction in the stands, made it all the more sweet for the 24-year-old.

The reactions were great all around, from Shaffer's parents:

To Shaffer giving himself high-fives while his teammates ignore him by hurdling up.

And the pile up at the end.

Oh those baseball teams and their creative team celebrations.
