Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6: Antonio Gates a risky play vs. Broncos

The Chargers need all hands on deck when they face the Broncos. Can Antonio Gates make a big impact on the game and for your fantasy team?

The San Diego Chargers should have a healthy Antonio Gates this week now that he is off the injury report.

A hamstring injury cost Gates two games and had him questionable to play in Week 5. He ended up starting vs. the Oakland Raiders and caught four passes for 30 yards and a score. Gates got five targets, while backup rookie tight end Hunter Henry got four.

Gates is now facing an elite Denver Broncos defense that ranks third in passing defense while allowing just three passing scores this season.

Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! ranks Gates as the 18th-best tight end for Week 6. He will face a Broncos defense allowing the ninth-fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Until San Diego makes one of Henry or Gates the featured tight end in this offense, it is hard to see either producing enough to be an effective fantasy play against defenses as good as Denver.

Keep Gates on the bench this week.
