For the first time during this 2016 NFL regular season, Colin Kaepernick will be starting at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. The team has decided to roll with Kaepernick on Sunday after losing four of their first five games this year.
San Francisco has not started Kaepernick under center since Week 8 of 2015 against the St. Louis Rams. The 49ers quarterback has lost six of his last seven starts with the team.
Fantasy Impact: In his first start of the season, Kaepernick will be facing a Buffalo Bills team whose defense has played well against quarterbacks so far in 2016.
Through the first five weeks of the season, the Bills’ defense is giving up the third fewest amount of fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. During the team’s past three games, no quarterback has even thrown for a touchdown against them.
Given his ability to run with the ball, Kaepernick is always a unique option for fantasy owners to consider for their lineups. Yahoo! projects the San Francisco quarterback to finish Sunday with 197 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 33 rushing yards.
If he had a better matchup, Kaepernick could have possibly been a good option this week for some fantasy owners. But for now, he should probably remain out of any starting lineups.
