Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6: Spencer Ware will soon see his touches dwindle

Kansas City’s running back will likely see a decrease in snaps on Sunday with other running backs on the roster getting healthier. We explore the fantasy implications.

Mainly in a replacement role, Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware has been playing pretty well during the team’s first four games of the 2016 season. His 5.3 yards per rushing attempt is tied for the fourth highest in the NFL among running backs with at least 50 carries this year.

However, fellow Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is getting healthier and the team will likely try and shift him back into their starting role. There will be less opportunities for Ware to get his hands on the ball and make plays.

Fantasy Impact: A reduction in touches for Ware could start as soon as this weekend against the Oakland Raiders. He will not likely get to take advantage of a matchup with a Raiders’ defense that is giving up an average of 5.6 yards per touch and one touchdown per game to opposing running backs.

If he were to still be Kansas City’s clear No. 1 running back on Sunday, fantasy owners should consider starting him with this favorable matchup. But all signs are pointing to that not being the case.

Yahoo! is projecting the running back to end the weekend with 52 total yards on 10 touches. It may be a good idea for fantasy owners to look elsewhere for running back production this week.
