Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 6: Justin Forsett is already back in the fantasy picture

The Lions’ new running back is expected to play on Sunday against the Rams. We explore the fantasy implications.

Less than a week after signing with the Detroit Lions, running back Justin Forsett could be the team’s starter during their Week 6 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions already know that they will be without running back Theo Riddick this weekend, but an injury to backup Dwayne Washington could shift Forsett into the starting lineup.

After rushing for over 1,200 yards in 2014 with the Baltimore Ravens, Forsett has seen his production go down since then and it eventually resulted in the Ravens releasing the running back after Week 3 this year.

Fantasy Impact: At 31 years old, Forsett is currently at the tail end of his NFL career. If he does not play well in Detroit, his time as a professional football player is likely over.

If he gets the start this weekend, Forsett will be facing a Rams defense that has been decent against the run in 2016 but they are also coming off of a game last Sunday in which they allowed Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy to run for 150 yards. Los Angeles has already allowed three running backs to rush for at least 80 yards in just five games this year.

Yahoo! has the Detroit running back gaining only 21 total yards on five touches this weekend, but a starting role would likely produce an increase in those final numbers. Starting or not, fantasy owners should likely keep away from inserting Forsett into their lineups at least until he proves his current worth to be wrong.
