Antonio Gates injury update: Chargers TE doubtful vs. Saints

The Chargers will likely be without Antonio Gates when the Saints come to town.

The San Diego Chargers are listing Antonio Gates as doubtful to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. Gates continues to deal with a hamstring injury that will likely keep Gates out for a second-straight game.

Gates was primed for a big game against a bad Saints defense, but backup Hunter Henry will be the starting tight end again. In two games this year, Gates has just six catches for 35 yards and one touchdown on nine targets.

Fantasy Impact: As long as Gates is sidelined, Henry will be an intriguing fantasy play, especially against a Saints defense allowing the eighth-most passing yards per game. Henry could phase out Gates in this offense if the veteran does not return sooner rather than later.

San Diego really likes what they have in Henry, and Gates is clearly on his last legs. However, do not cut Gates from your fantasy team just yet.

San Diego is still very thin in the pass-catching department, so Gates may still have a big role once he returns.
