Jamaal Charles is expected to be active for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.
Charles is listed as questionable on the final injury report, so this is not a 100 percent certainty until the inactives are announced. Kansas City has been very careful with Charles’ recovery from a torn ACL suffered last season.
He was inactive for the first three games this season despite being healthy enough to practice. He got another full week of practice in this week, but we should not expect him to get a full workload in his first game back in almost a year.
Spencer Ware has been very effective in Charles’ absence, so we should expect those two to split carries Sunday night.
Fantasy Impact: If Charles is active this week, he may be worth starting vs. a Steelers defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs. However, Kansas City’s approach with Charles suggests he will get a limited workload in his first game back.
Unless you are hurting for running backs, keep Charles on your bench this week.
