Fantasy implications of Jacoby Brissett starting in Week 4 for New England Patriots

We appear to finally have an answer on the Patriots starting quarterback for Week 4. We break down the fantasy implications.

The New England Patriots have been mum about their Week 4 starting quarterback, but we appear to have an answer. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting Jacoby Brissett will get the start over Jimmy Garoppolo against the Buffalo Bills.

Garoppolo started the Patriots first two games before suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2. Brissett replaced him in Week 2 and then started Week 3 on Thursday Night Football. He suffered a hand injury and his status for Week 4 was in question, but he appears to be good to go.

Fantasy impact: The Patriots only have to get through one more game before Tom Brady returns from his suspension. For Week 4, Brissett is not a great fantasy option. The bigger question is what it means for the players around him. LeGarrette Blount will get a lot of work, and is a must start against the Bills. Rob Gronkowski is listed as questionable but should play. He played only 14 snaps last week, primarily as a blocker. He should get more work, but his involvement will likely still be playing on a snap count. Julian Edelman has PPR value in Week 4, but is not a good standard league start. Edelman is expected to be the Patriots backup quarterback, so there is always the chance for some passing stats.
