With backup quarterback Landry Jones set to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers this week against the New England Patriots, the status of the Steelers’ offense is uncertain. Wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back Le’Veon Bell will likely see a majority of Pittsburgh’s targets on Sunday, meaning tight end Jesse James could be left empty handed.
James has played very well in 2016 so far as he currently has 20 catches for 141 yards and three touchdowns through the season’s first six weeks.
Fantasy Impact: With Ben Roethlisberger under center this year, it seemed like the Steelers’ tight end was starting to build a solid connection with his quarterback. But now with Roethlisberger out for at least one game, the direction of James’ production is hard to determine at this moment.
Yahoo! certainly does not see James becoming a favorite target of Jones this week, as they have projected the tight end to finish with just three catches for 25 yards. At least for this week, fantasy owners may want to look elsewhere for tight end production in their lineups.
