Theo Riddick injury update: RB out for Lions, fantasy owners

Detroit is getting decimated in their backfield.

The Detroit Lions have ruled out Theo Riddick for their Week 7 matchup with Washington. Riddick is still battling an ankle injury suffered in Week 5.

He has failed to practice for two weeks now, and a return date remains unclear. The Lions may look to hold him out until they hit their bye in Week 10. If so, that would keep Riddick sidelined for two more games in addition to Sunday’s clash with Washington.

This has been a big loss for the Lions’ offense after Riddick took over the starting duties with Ameer Abdullah now on injured reserve. In five games, Riddick has 171 rushing yards and one score to go with 26 catches for 190 yards and three scores.

Fantasy Impact: Not having Riddick means Detroit will rely heavily on Justin Forsett, Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner. Forsett joined the team in Week 6, so he may be up to speed enough to get a significant workload on Sunday.
