Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 7: Tyler Eifert not ready to leave the bench just yet

The Bengals’ tight end could make his 2016 debut on Sunday. We explore the fantasy implications.

The Cincinnati Bengals are in desperate need of some receiving help this season and tight end Tyler Eifert returning this weekend could be a step in the right direction. Wide receivers A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell have accounted for five of the Bengals’ receiving touchdowns in 2016, while the rest of the team has only one.

Eifert playing on Sunday will not be an immediate upgrade, since his snaps will likely be limited, but he should be able to make more of an impact within a week or two.

Fantasy Impact: Cincinnati’s tight end is listed as questionable heading into this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. But it seems like his chances of hitting the field this weekend are pretty good.

Depending on how many opportunities to score the Bengals have on Sunday, they could opt to have most of their 6’6 tight end’s snaps come in the red zone. He will have the luxury of facing a Browns defense that is giving up the most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends in 2016.

Yahoo! is not expecting Eifert to make any big splashes if he returns to the field this week, as they have him finishing with just three catches for 37 yards. Fantasy owners would be taking their chances by starting Eifert on Sunday, so it may be better off to wait another week with the young tight end.
