Blake Bortles says the Jaguars’ Color Rush uniforms are ‘ugly as hell,’ and he’s right

Mustard yellow is always a bad idea.

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has strong opinions about Jacksonville’s Color Rush Uniforms. He told the Tennessee media on a conference call this week that the mustard yellow uniforms are “ugly as hell.”

He’s not wrong.

"I think somebody's got to tell the truth, so I might as well be the first to say it: I think they're ugly as hell," Bortles said, via Mike DiRocco of ESPN. "I'm not a big fan of the mustard. I think they could have done a better job, and I think they should choose a different color."

Bortles thought maybe the Color Rush uniforms should have represented the Jaguars’ less retina-scorching color, teal. However, since the Titans are going to be dressed as Smurfs on Thursday night, the proximity of shades might have made it a challenge for viewers to follow the game.

Removing teal from the equation, there’s still one option for the Jaguars that would have been worlds better than mustard yellow.

“I'd like an all white,” Bortles said. “Maybe we could paint our helmet one color solidly and go all white."

Anything would be better than the yellow Jacksonville is going with on Thursday night. You would think the Jaguars would have realized this sooner, given that the urine-tinged Color Rush uniforms last year were similar.

The Jaguars are 2-4, and Bortles is struggling. Despite a wealth of offensive talent and a concerted effort to shore up the defense this offseason, Jacksonville can’t seem to get it together.

Last year, when the Jaguars wore the urine-colored uniforms, they actually beat the Titans 19-13. Maybe these ugly uniforms are exactly what they need this week.
