Despite not throwing a single touchdown pass and finishing with fewer than 140 passing yards a week ago, Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler could still be a good option for some fantasy owners in 2016.
If, of course, he is playing at home.
In four games played at Houston’s home stadium this season, Osweiler has helped the team win all four games while throwing seven of his eight 2016 touchdowns and averaging around 255 passing yards per game. At home this year, the signal caller has a quarterback rating of 83.2, compared to a 58.9 rating during his three road games.
Fantasy Impact: In addition to getting to play in front of the Texans’ home crowd, Osweiler also gets a good matchup this weeekend against a weak Detroit Lions defense.
The Lions are giving up the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in 2016. More than half of the quarterbacks Detroit has faced this season have thrown for at least 300 yards and only one has finished the day with fewer than two touchdown passes.
Yahoo! projects Osweiler to finish Sunday with 246 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. But due to his matchup, the quarterback could end up with some final numbers that look even better than his projection.
The risk that some fantasy owners could choose to take in starting Houston’s quarterback this week seems like it would be well worth the possible reward.
