With the news on Thursday that Denver Broncos starting running back C.J. Anderson will be missing a significant amount of time with a knee injury, the next man up on the team’s depth chart is rookie Devontae Booker.
Booker has played well in a limited number of snaps in 2016 so far. The Broncos running back is averaging over five yards per touch this season and is coming off a game in which he ran for a career-high 83 yards on 17 carries.
Fantasy Impact: As for this weekend, Booker has a more-than-decent shot at ending the day with some impressive numbers. Denver is playing the San Diego Chargers this Sunday and Booker will be facing a defense that has struggled against his position group in 2016.
Against opposing running backs this season, the Chargers are giving up the sixth-most fantasy points. Rushers have scored a total of 10 touchdowns and are averaging 5.2 yards per touch vs. San Diego this year.
For Sunday, Yahoo! is projecting Booker to finish the day with 87 total yards and one touchdown on 19 touches. There is almost no reason for fantasy owners to keep him on the bench this weekend.
