Washington has ruled out Matt Jones for the team’s Week 8 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jones is being held out due to a knee injury suffered during the team’s Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions. He was in a bit of hot water after rushing just 10 times for 27 yards in that game while losing a fumble.
That came one week after Jones had his biggest game of the year with 135 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown in Washington's Week 6 win over Philadelphia. In seven games, Jones has 99 runs for 460 yards (4.6 avg) and three touchdowns, with eight grabs for 73 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Jones missing this game means Chris Thompson and Robert Kelley will be Washington’s top backs vs. Cincinnati. Thompson is more of a passing down back who has 22 catches for 184 yards and one score this season. He also has 38 carries for 193 yards (5.1 avg) and one score.
The four highest-scoring running backs this season vs. the Bengals are Ezekiel Elliott, DeAngelo Williams, James White, and Matt Forte. They combined for 181 receiving yards and three touchdown catches on 20 receptions against Cincinnati.
