While starting tight end Jordan Reed missed the past two games with a concussion, Washington had the luxury of having a veteran tight end in Vernon Davis as Reed’s backup.
Davis did a decent job filling in for Reed during the last two weeks. As Washington’s top tight end option with Reed out for the last two games, Davis has caught eight passes for 129 yards and one touchdown.
Reed has been practicing all week and seems on track to play for Washington in its game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact: With Reed expected to be back in the lineup, the fantasy value for Davis has all but vanished.
He will still most likely see time on the field this weekend, but his targets will be significantly reduced with Reed returning. With the Bengals not one of the best teams at covering tight ends in 2016, Washington could involve Davis more on Sunday, but nothing is certain.
There is almost no reason for fantasy owners to even consider starting Davis in their lineups this week.
