Unlike last week, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy did not practice this Friday and likely will miss the team’s game on Sunday because of a hamstring injury. McCoy’s backup Mike Gillislee is also dealing with a foot injury heading into this weekend’s matchup with the New England Patriots.
With the injuries piling up in Buffalo’s offensive backfield, could the Bills look more to their receivers for production against the Patriots on Sunday?
Fantasy Impact: The passing game is certainly not Buffalo’s strength this season and they know that (just around 25 pass attempts per game in the last three weeks). But the Bills may have no other choice than to throw the ball more this weekend.
With wide receiver Marquise Goodwin out Sunday with a concussion, Robert Woods and Justin Hunter are the next two Bills pass catchers that could have a chance to shine this week. New England’s defense has played pretty well against the pass this year, but they have also been vulnerable at times (three touchdowns to receivers in the last three games).
Although Hunter has found the end zone twice in the past three games for Buffalo, Woods should be the better choice of the two for fantasy owners this week. Woods caught seven passes for 89 yards during the Bills’ first meeting with the Patriots in Week 4 and he has the potential to put up even bigger numbers on Sunday.
