With the Indianapolis Colts already ruling Dwayne Allen out for Week 8 due to an ankle injury, Jack Doyle will be the team’s starting tight end for the seventh time in eight games this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In his fourth season with the Colts, Doyle is quickly establishing himself as another legitimate option for quarterback Andrew Luck. During a 34-26 win last week over the Tennessee Titans, Doyle finished the game with nine catches for 78 yards and one touchdown on 10 targets.
Fantasy Impact: Indianapolis and their tight end will be facing a Chiefs defense this weekend that has played pretty well against the position group in 2016.
So far this year, Kansas City is giving up the seventh fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. They have only allowed one touchdown catch to the position group in 2016, and no tight end has finished a game with more than 45 receiving yards.
Doyle’s matchup may be a little less favorable than some fantasy owners would have hoped. But the way his quarterback is currently playing (eight touchdowns in the last four games), starting the tight end this week may prove to be worth the risk.
