The San Francisco 49ers are listing Jeremy Kerley as questionable to play in Week 5. Kerley is dealing with an ankle injury that limited him in practice this week, but he should go Thursday vs. the Arizona Cardinals.
The 49ers’ passing game has been non-existent for most of this season, but Kerley has been a nice bright spot at times. In his first year with the team, Kerley has racked up a team-high 18 catches, 202 yards, and three 20-plus yard catches through four games. He also caught his first touchdown in last week’s narrow loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
However, Kerley now faces an Arizona Cardinals defense allowing the seventh-fewest passing yards per game this season. Led by All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson, this is not a unit you normally would throw against — though Kerley plays mainly in the slot, so at least he shouldn’t face Peterson much in this game.
Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! ranks Kerley as the 62nd-best receiver in Week 5. Even though he is San Francisco’s No. 1 receiver, you should keep him on your bench this week against a good Cardinals pass defense.
