Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: John Brown a risky play vs. 49ers

John Brown has been producing in recent weeks, but not having Carson Palmer makes him a very risky play in San Francisco.

Just as John Brown was starting to emerge this season, he endures another setback. This one comes in Brown losing quarterback Carson Palmer, who is out this week due to a concussion.

Palmer was falling in love with the third-year receiver in recent weeks. Brown caught 16 passes for 214 yards on 27 targets in the past two games, but Palmer will be replaced with Drew Stanton when the Arizona Cardinals face the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.

Brown was largely ineffective in 2014 when Stanton had to start, so he will be a risky play on a short week vs. the 49ers.

Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! has Brown ranked inside their top 30 wide receivers for Week 5. He is going against a 49ers defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers over the past three games.

This is a close call, but keeping Brown on your bench is the safe move to make this week.
