Since his fourth-place showing at the Olympics, Thomas Pieters has been one of the hottest golfers in the world. He won the Made In Denmark and finished second in the Czech Master to help propel him into the Ryder Cup for Europe — where he starred along side Rory McIlroy to create dynamic partnership of young bombers.

Tommy Pete (I will force this nickname until it sticks) sits at 2-under par after Round 1 of the tournament that sees competitors play the opening three rounds at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and the Old Course at St. Andrews. Alex Noren leads after firing a flaming-hot, 8-under 64 at Carnoustie.
