Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: Cameron Brate shining as a starter

The Buccaneers’ tight end has performed well since being named the team’s starter. We explore the fantasy implications.

In his first season as a significant part of the offense, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate is exceeding all of his preseason expectations (if he even had any). If anyone tries to claim that they knew this year the tight end would be producing like his currently is, they are lying.

With two touchdowns and 10 catches on 18 targets in his last two games, it seems like the Bucs made the right choice to stick with Brate as their starter.

Fantasy Impact: Before the start of the season, the tight end’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers on Monday seemed like it was going to be much tougher. But the Panthers’ defense is struggling to cover tight ends this year, so much so that they are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends in 2016.

Carolina’s defense has given up four touchdowns to tight ends in their past three games and Brate could be the next in line score on Monday. Yahoo! sees Tampa Bay’s tight end finishing their game vs. the Panthers with four catches for 39 yards, but he should still be one of the top fantasy options at his position this week.
