Editor’s update: Gates is expected to be active, but on a limited snap count, per Ian Rapoport.
The San Diego Chargers are listing Antonio Gates as questionable to face the Oakland Raiders in Week 5. Gates is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out the previous two weeks.
If Gates is active this week, he could be poised for a big game against a bad Raiders defense that ranks last in total defense. However, backup Hunter Henry has done well as the starting tight end with Gates out, so this could be more of a committee approach in Week 5.
In two games this year, Gates has just six grabs for 35 yards and one touchdown on nine targets.
Fantasy Impact: Yahoo! ranks Gates as the 23rd-best tight end this week. He would face a Raiders defense allowing the fourth-most yards per game to tight ends this season.
The Chargers are still thin in the pass-catching department, so Gates may have a big role this Sunday if he is active. You should still keep him on your bench this week.
