Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 5: Theo Riddick continuing to struggle

The Lions’ running back has not performed well since becoming the team’s starter. We explore the fantasy implications.

Since being named the Detroit Lions’ starting running back two weeks ago, Theo Riddick has not been playing as well as the team may have been hoping for. His production has still been on par with that of a backup running back, but some envisioned Riddick’s numbers to increase when he moved into the starting role.

In the last two weeks, the Lions’ running back is only averaging 53 total yards on 16 touches per game and he has not scored a single touchdown.

Fantasy Impact: If anyone thinks that this will be the game where Riddick finally breaks out of his shell and has an impressive performance, think again.

Detroit will be facing the ferocious defense of the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Eagles defense is giving up the second fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, so the outlook for Riddick is not looking too good.

Yahoo! thinks the Detroit running back will have a decent game this week with 75 total yards on 15 touches, but still no touchdowns. Unless they truly have no other choice, fantasy owners should probably keep Riddick out of their lineup on Sunday.
