Chiefs TE Travis Kelce fined $24,000 for tossing his towel at a referee

This one was kind of expected.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was fined $24,309 by the NFL on Friday afternoon for tossing his towel at a referee during their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Kelce was ejected from the game after he argued with a referee about a no-call on pass interference. The Chiefs tight end was fed up with the situation, then tossed his towel in the air like a penalty flag towards the official.

The Jaguars’ defense delighted in seeing Kelce get kicked out of the game, and taunted him as he made his way towards the sideline following his ejection.

Kelce has had a good season for the Chiefs with 39 catches on the season to go along with 435 yards and three touchdowns.

His ejection was one of the stranger sights you’ll ever see on a football field, at least when it comes to retaliation against a referee.
