The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback woes continued on Sunday, when starter Cody Kessler went down with an apparent head injury after taking a hit from Lawrence Timmons of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Kessler was able to get up and walked off of the field. He took a shoulder to the head on the hit from Timmons, and Josh McCown came in at quarterback for the Browns.
Kessler was 7-of-14 for 129 yards and an interception when the hit happened, with the Steelers up 17-3 in the third quarter. Pittsburgh received a personal foul for the hit.
The rookie has started seven games for the winless Browns this season, and had actually played well in a couple of starts.
Browns head coach Hue Jackson didn’t have a very encouraging update after the game, saying Kessler could be done for the year.
