Bryce Petty leaves game vs. Dolphins after brutal hit from two unblocked rushers

Bryce Petty was sandwiched by Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake.

A strong start for the New York Jets turned sour in the third quarter when the Miami Dolphins scored three touchdowns in four minutes, and things got worse when Bryce Petty was forced to leave the game after a brutal hit.

Ryan Fitzpatrick entered the game for the Jets after Petty completed a big first down, but was hit by both Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake, who met at the quarterback after blowing past the New York offensive line unblocked.

Prior to leaving the game, Petty had 235 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, but was struggling to lead the Jets to points after a 7-0 start on the opening drive. Fitzpatrick turned the ball over on downs in his time on the field.

Petty’s lower back was evaluated after the wind was knocked out of him, but he is questionable to return to the game. After warming up on the sideline, he left to the locker room before New York’s next drive.
