The literal translation of the German word 'spielhalle', sometimes used for casino, is essentially 'amusement arcade'. But believe you me, after a comedically botched CASINO HEIST (!) by a group of Hannover 96 youth players, the amusement is all ours.
A trio of under-18 prospects for the German league soccer team HSV were arrested last week after dropping the ball in just about every conceivable way in an apparent planned casino robbery.
What did the group in?
- They changed their mind at the last moment.
- After doing so they proceeded to park in a no-parking zone.
- When that caught the attention of local police, the cops discovered the license plates on the vehicle were stolen.
Police then found a gun and balaclavas in their possession. Whoops.
This isn't quite as good as recruiting an entire crew on Craigslist with the game plan of running up to the blackjack table and stealing all the chips armed with nothing but (faulty!) pepper spray, but it's close.
C- for effort. D for execution, young German athletes.
