WWE Fastlane 2016: The full rundown and why you should care

Who will challenge Triple H in the main event of WrestleMania? We'll find out on Sunday night.

We're on the Road to WrestleMania, so it makes sense that we'd want to get there as quickly as possible, right? Well, WWE Fastlane, which will air live on pay-per-view Sunday night, will determine the WrestleMania 32 main event. The rest of the card seems pretty stacked as well, so we should see most of the remaining dominoes fall as we careen toward the biggest show of the year.

Fastlane goes down on Sunday, starting at 8 p.m. ET on pay-per-view and the WWE Network. The hour-long Kickoff Show begins at 7 p.m. ET on the WWE network, YouTube and Facebook and features a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the United States Championship.

United States Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Kickoff Match: Kalisto (c) vs. Albert Del Rio

What am I looking at here? Kalisto is one-half of the Lucha Dragons tag team and has been trading the U.S. belt with Del Rio for the past couple months. Alberto Del Rio is one-fourth of the League of Nations faction and is the WWE wrestler most likely to make you do a double-take because you'd swear he was 100 percent nude.

Why you should care: Kalisto is legitimately one of the most spectacular and unbelievable wrestlers in the world. He has the ability and the talent to become the next Rey Mysterio and then some. Whether he'll ever be unleashed at full strength and with a big enough showcase is another matter entirely. He could pull out some jaw-dropping stuff in this match.

Another reason you should care is that this feud will probably be over after this match and then both men can move on to other things.

The New Day will appear on Edge & Christian's "Cutting Edge Peep Show"

What am I looking at here? Okay, this isn't a match or anything, but it's still significant. Edge and Christian are former Attitude Era icons and world champions (Edge is already in the WWE Hall of Fame) who are hosting a talk show segment on the PPV, in part to promote their new WWE Network show. Their guests The New Day are arguably the most entertaining act in the company. The trio are the current tag team champions. They wear a lot of pink and might have light-up unicorn horns on their foreheads. Do not be alarmed.

Why you should care: The New Day verbally sparring with Edge and Christian should be enough of a selling point on its own. But ...

**SPOILER ALERT**

There are rumors that Edge and Christian might be introducing the New Day to the next challengers for their tag team titles. There are further rumors indicating said team might be none other than Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, two of the most popular stars in the history of WWE's developmental promotion, NXT. Not saying this is going to happen, just saying those are the rumors. And if there's any substance at all to them, that's certainly an exciting reason to care.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

What am I looking at here? Chris Jericho is a nearly household name, of course. He's the coolest dad in the land and has the dadjokes to prove it. AJ Styles is a world-famous wrestling star and reigning Wrestling Observer Wrestler of the Year. For over a decade, he was the face of TNA. Now he's in WWE and he's looking to make an impact (no pun intended).

Why you should care: Styles debuted in the Royal Rumble last month, but this is his first proper PPV match in WWE. He's on top of his game right now and better than he's ever been. He and Jericho have traded wins on WWE television over the past weeks, so now we're going to see their rubber match. Two world-class icons mixing it up? Yeah, I'm here for that.

Becky Lynch & Sasha Banks vs. Naomi & Tamina

What am I looking at here? Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks are two members of NXT's vaunted "Four Horsewomen." Banks was, until recently, a member of Team B.A.D., along with Naomi and Tamina. Naomi and Tamina, however, reacted poorly to Sasha striking out on her own, so now Banks and Lynch have renewed their friendship and look to take Team B.A.D. down a peg.

Why you should care: This is likely building up to a three-way Divas Championship match at WrestleMania between Banks, Lynch and Charlotte. This should be a good, dominant win for Becky and Sasha and provide a showcase for their talent as we head toward what will probably be the most-anticipated and best women's match in WrestleMania history.

Ryback, Big Show & Kane vs. The Wyatt Family

What am I looking at here? Ryback, Big Show and Kane are WWE's resident MEATLORDS. The latter two have been holding down the big man main event scene for two decades, while Ryback is a throwback to the 1990s musclemen of yore. They've run afoul of hillbilly cultists the Wyatt Family,

Why you should care: If you're looking for a hoss fight, here's where you'll get one. Just a bunch of legitimate meatmen slamming their beefbodies together. It's going to be a glorious car crash, only where all the cars are made out of genuine horseflesh.

Storyline-wise, the Wyatt Family is looking to establish themselves as the new guard of powerhouses to be reckoned with in WWE. They'll likely take down these three truckloads of chuck roast en route to challenging the sandwich lord of them all, Brock Lesnar, at WrestleMania.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

What am I looking at here? Kevin Owens recently recaptured the Intercontinental Championship and remains a violent prizefighter who hates everyone and everything other than his wife and children. Dolph Ziggler is a showoff. His hair resembles the most unbroken of ramen noodles.

Why you should care: This isn't exactly a fresh matchup, since these two have pretty much exclusively been wrestling each other since the Royal Rumble, but at least the Intercontinental Championship is back in play. And it's not like their matches together are bad.

Still, it's probable that this match could end in some funny business that will help determine the direction for the Intercontinental title heading into WrestleMania. A multi-man brouhaha with several people gunning for Owens' title, perhaps?

Divas Championship Match: Charlotte (c) vs. Brie Bella

What am I looking at here? Charlotte is the daughter of the one and only Ric Flair and is the defending Divas champ. Brie Bella is the wife of the recently-retired Daniel Bryan and the sister of the currently injured Nikki Bella.

Why you should care: Brie Bella recently announced she too would be retiring soon. She's gunning for Charlotte's title -- a title she herself has never held. Charlotte and Ric will do anything to ensure the belt doesn't change hands. Will the new dirtiest player in the game still hold the Divas title by the time WrestleMania rolls around?

Triple Threat Match to determine No. 1 Contender at WrestleMania: Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose

What am I looking at here? Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are best friends and former members of the dearly departed Shield faction. Ambrose is a maniac who welcomes violence, while Reigns is the cool and collected handsome prince who dishes it out. The two friends have made it clear they'll do anything to get that WrestleMania main event spot, including take out their brother. Brock Lesnar, you already know. HE IS THE ONE TRUE MEATGOD.

Why you should care: The stakes are pretty close to as high as they can get. The winner of this match will go on to the main event at WrestleMania, to face Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The smart money is on Roman Reigns, but the past few weeks of television have taken care to point out that you should never count out Dean Ambrose. And of course, Brock Lesnar is the final boss in any game that matters (which includes life, I suppose).

It's the road to WrestleMania. The best time of the year to be a wrestling fan. Buckle up, because things are about to get real interesting.
