America watched in tense silence Monday night as Ben Higgins offered his final rose and proposed to Lauren Bushnell, making the final decision over JoJo Fletcher in the season finale of The Bachelor. Watching alongside the rest of us happened to be the Minnesota Twins, courtesy of pitcher Phil Hughes and his fiancée, who made tacos and cookies for the glorious occasion.

From what we know, in attendance were Twins teammates Glen Perkins, Trevor May, Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, Kevin Jepsen, Ryan O'Rourke, Tommy Milone and recent South Korean acquisition Byung Ho Park. The new slugger even approved of Hughes' (and Hughes' fiancée's) stab at making the traditional Korean dish kimchi:

But when it came down to the drama unfolding on the TV, Hughes and the rest of the pitching staff were right there with us, cringing and wondering where this plot was going.

This is just further proof that professional athletes believe in the bonding powers of reality television, and enough of an excuse for us that The Bachelor is a sport.
