Boston Marathon 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch the race online

It's been three years since the tragic bombing near the finish line, and the Boston Marathon keeps going strong.

The 120th Boston Marathon takes over the streets of greater Boston on Monday, and the runner to beat in the men's race is two-time champion and 2015 winner Lelisa Desisa. Desisa, from Ethiopia, has won two of the last three Boston Marathons.

Caroline Rotich of Kenya is back to defend her 2015 title. She is regarded as more of a contender than a favorite to win and repeat.

About 30,000 runners will take to the 26.2 mile course that ends with a straightaway down Boylston Street in downtown Boston. You can watch coverage on NBC Sports Network here:

NBCSN will handle national coverage of the race, with WBZ-TV will handle local coverage in Boston throughout the day. The WBZ coverage is also available via online stream at CBSBoston.com, and begins at 7 a.m. ET. NBCSN's coverage starts at 8:30, with the women's race starting at 9:30 and the elite men and first wave going at 10 a.m.

The official Boston Marathon website, BAA.org, will also stream the race online.

NBC Sports Live Extra will have a camera at the finish line. The feed will be available for 30 days after the race.
