Stephen Curry’s much-maligned shoes needed some cred to get them off the ground. Jordan Spieth was here to help after a week of the internet pointing out that they look like something Matlock would wear, or your dad’s favorite Home Depot shoes, or that they’re the first athletic footwear appropriate for shuffleboard.
It’s important to note that Spieth is also sponsored by Under Armour, so this is a shrewd cross-marketing scheme. Perhaps the new Stephs won’t appeal to basketball players, but they could have a serious second wind among golfers.
Sorry Steph.
