The Baltimore Orioles were in need of starting pitching help and have acquired left-hander Wade Miley from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, the teams announced.
Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball was the first to report the deal.
Baltimore will send minor league left-hander Ariel Miranda to Seattle, as reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Miley, 29, is 7-8 with a 4.98 ERA in 21 starts for Seattle this season, with 82 strikeouts and 34 walks in 112 innings. He was acquired by the Mariners in a four-player offseason trade with the Boston Red Sox in December.
Orioles starters rank 14th among 15 American League teams with a 5.02 ERA this season and are dead last with 5.43 innings per start. Baltimore snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday with a win over the Toronto Blue Jays and own a half-game lead over Toronto in the American League East.
Miley is earning $6 million this season, per Cot's Contracts, with roughly $2.1 million remaining in 2016. He is also due $8.75 million in 2017 and has a 2018 club option worth $12 million with a $500,000 buyout.
