The USA Track and Field Olympic trials continue on Thursday from Eugene, Ore. The event, which will wrap up on July 10, is held to determine who will represent the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The United States has historically done very well in track and field and athletics in general at the Summer Olympics. They hold more medals than any other country, and it's not even close. But of the three finals events that will be taking place at the trials on Thursday, the country received not a single medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Michelle Carter came the closest, qualifying at the Olympics in the women's shot put but ultimately finishing in fifth place in the finals.
Carter will be in action again on Thursday. The finals of the shot put, triple jump and 3,000-meter steeplechase will all take place, along with several qualifying rounds from other events.
The full list of events for Thursday is below, though only some of them will be on live stream and even fewer on television. NBCSN will carry coverage of the three women's finals beginning at 8 p.m. ET and running for about two hours.
A live stream of those events will be available, and earlier in the day a live stream will be available for the women's 5,000-meter race first round. That stream begins at 6:30 p.m., though there will be no television broadcast. Other qualifying and first-round events will not be available for viewing, but USA Track and Field posts results after each day here.
