USA basketball vs. China 2016 Rio Olympics final score: Maya Moore nearly triple-doubles in 105-62 win

With Elena Delle Donne sidelined, the Americans still won big for the fifth time in... five games.

Team USA finishes pool play undefeated in five games with a 204 point scoring differential after demolishing China, 105 - 62. Elena Delle Donne didn't play as she was poked in the eye by a teammate in warmups, but as the case has been in every game so far, the Americans still won it by halftime.

USA ran away with this one as quickly as the first few minutes of the first quarter. A fast tempo from the start helped them jump out to a quick lead with Tina Charles running the floor. Charles was the beneficiary of full court outlet passes as the Americans pushed the pace. She finished with 12 points in the quarter to the entire team of China's 9. Her four made field goals were two more than the Chinese team. She finished the half with 14 points and 3 rebounds.

China didn't have the size or foot speed to keep up with the Americans as they ran a layup drill the the opening half. Forced turnovers led to wide-open lanes running in the other direction which the Americans played perfectly.

Maya Moore played the role of an all-around court general with 6 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Her three first-half steals led to easy buckets in transition that defined her team's 34-point blowout in the first 20 minutes.

The superstar-filled team has shown no struggle in sharing the ball, dishing 24 assists on 26 made field goals. They'd finish with 40 to set an Olympic record.

They took a 60-26 lead into the half.

Brittney Griner continued her brilliance in Rio through the second, towering over the Chinese on the inside for a total of 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting. She also grabbed 13 rebounds. Seimone Augustus was on fire drilling shots from midrange off the dribble and her teammate Sylvia Fowles finished with 13 points.

China did fight back though, and somehow made a 43-point loss look closer than it was going to be. Mengxin Sun finished with 16 points, hitting three three-point attempts, and the Chinese put up a second-half fight. They were simply outmatched talent-wise as is every other team in the tournament.

Team USA will open up quarterfinal play on Tuesday against Japan.

3 things we learned:

Team USA's superstars have no trouble sharing the ball

Against China, Team USA finished with 40 assists to set an Olympic record on 46 made shots.

It's remarkable that a team full of superstars who aren't all that familiar playing with each other has made such a smooth transition passing the ball. It isn't just point guard Sue Bird doing the distributing either, as Moore, Fowles, Augustus and Diana Taurasi have all gotten the ball moving.

With a plethora of able cutters and mismatches on the interior there's never a reason this team should take a bad look. USA has also really benefitted from running the floor and using their speed. A number of assists are full court passes down the court for open layups.

In five games the Americans have assisted on 152 of 202 made attempts.

Maya Moore looked like the best in the world again

Moore has been really good throughout pool play, but on Friday she played like the best player in the world again. With Taurasi's three-point shooting and Griner's incredible defensive display we've nearly forgotten all that she's capable of.

She showed it on Sunday, flirting with triple-double numbers in 18 minutes on this stacked lineup. She finished with 9 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds.

But her biggest contributions may have been on the defensive end. With four takeaways and a block on a three-point attempt, Moore was terrific with her quick hands. Her strips were effortless, pressuring the ball until she zoned in to pick her opponent's pocket. She has 13 in five games.

Elena Delle Donne didn't even play

We know how dominant this team is by now, but it's still worth noting that the reigning WNBA MVP didn't even touch the court. She got poked in the eye during warmups so coach Geno Auriemma sat her for a game she didn't need to play in.

Delle Donne has played well in the four games she did get to run, averaging 8.5 points, and she'll take on a larger role for the 202 games in Tokyo after an aging roster fades, but for now, even the league's MVP missing a game doesn't really matter.
