Leonte Carroo loses fantasy value as he drops down Dolphins’ depth chart

The third-round rookie doesn’t look like he’ll play a big role in 2016. We look at the fantasy implications.

With the regular season fast approaching, the Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver depth chart is just about settled. However, it’s looking like rookie Leonte Carroo could be on the outside looking in when it comes to playing time.

Carroo is in no danger of losing his roster spot after the Dolphins invested a third-round pick in him this spring, but he’s fallen far down the depth chart, to the point where the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson believes Carroo could be on the inactive list to start the season.

Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker are locked in as the starters in three-wideout sets, while Griff Whalen is currently fourth on the depth chart. Right now, Carroo is battling fellow rookie Jakeem Grant for the No. 5 spot.

Fantasy impact: Carroo was a popular sleeper target in fantasy circles throughout the summer, but when the pads came on in August it was quickly apparent he has a long way to go in his NFL development. Unless the injury bug hits Miami’s receiver corps, it’s unlikely that Carroo will make much fantasy noise in his rookie year. He’s only a bench stash in dynasty leagues and has no re-draft value.
