Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott’s audition for the starting job begins Sunday against the rival New York Giants. With book end starter, Tony Romo, out with injury, Prescott has every opportunity available to impress during his rookie campaign and make a huge impact for his team.

Prescott makes his starting debut in a fantastic situation. He has a young, dynamic running back in Ezekiel Elliott, a top notch offensive line, and proven stars in Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. Prescott has no excuse but to step out onto the field and show the world what he can do.

The question looming over the Cowboys concerns the eventual decision that may need to be made with Tony Romo. “The door is open, though slightly, for Dak Prescott to come in and impress enough and potentially take Tony Romo's job,“ according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. If Prescott has success as a starter, that question will continue to be asked as Romo prepares to return from his back injury.

Fantasy Opportunities: With Prescott as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback while Romo is out with injury, fantasy owners can expect him to have full control of the offense. Utilizing all of his weapons, both rushing and receiving, Prescott could develop into a solid QB1 option early in the season. But owners should be aware of his rookie status and there may be some hills to climb early. When Romo returns, his status may be in question if Prescott is unable to impress enough to remain as the starter throughout the regular season.
