Jamaal Charles making progress, still questionable for Week 2, fantasy owners

Kansas City is still bringing running back Jamaal Charles along slowly. We breakdown the fantasy implications.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles’ (knee) status is still day-to-day as the team looks ahead to Week 2 against the Houston Texans. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told beat writer Terez A. Paylor Monday that he does not know if the four-time Pro Bowler will play Sunday, but that Charles “made progress” working with the scout team. Coming off his second ACL tear in four years, Charles did not take any snaps in the preseason and sat out of Week 1’s overtime thriller.

Fantasy Impact: This may be the beginning of the end for Charles. The Chiefs continue to be very vague about the status of the ninth-year back. We know that Charles is not practicing with the starters but, he is still at least listed as the starting back. If Charles does suit up, it will be highly unlikely he will outproduce Spencer Ware, who had an impressive showing Week 1. Owners should expect Charles to have little impact for a while, if at all this year.
