Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn told the press that starting receivers Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu will be limited in practice on Wednesday, according ESPN’s Vaughn McClure. Both receivers are battling ankle injuries. Jones went down in Week 3 of the preseason with his ankle injury and Sanu twisted his ankle in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both players did play through their the injuries Sunday. They are expected to suit up for Atlanta’s Week 2 meeting with the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy Impact: Jones and Sanu did not seem to be too bothered by their respective ankle injuries, but neither had breakout performances in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss. Jones caught four passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Sanu had five receptions for 88 yards and a score.
The Falcons could just be resting their starters to make sure not to aggravate their ankles any further. For now, owners should expect to see Jones and Sanu Sunday. Both should have strong showing against a Raiders secondary that allowed 423 passing yards and 4 touchdowns in Week 1.
