Spencer Ware sits out of practice, not a concern for fantasy owners

The Chiefs rest running back Spencer Ware with an apparent toe injury. We break down fantasy implications.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced that running back Spencer Ware will not practice Wednesday due to an apparent sprained toe, according to Chiefs reporter Pete Sweeney. There has been no indication from the Chiefs of when or how Ware hurt his toe. This injury follows a breakout Week 1 performance from the fourth-year back, where he rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown and caught seven passes for 129 yards against the San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs expect Ware to be available for the Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Impact: Ware was a dream for the Chiefs and owners in Week 1. His 199 yards of total offense made everyone forget he is Jamaal Charles’ backup. Owners should not worry about Ware sitting out of practice Wednesday. It seems like more of a maintenance sit than a serious injury concern. Expect Ware to get a bulk of the work out of the backfield in Week 2. Ware’s versatility makes him an excellent upside RB2 against Houston.
