Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Charles Clay an intriguing play vs. Jets

The Bills offense could be without Sammy Watkins this week, which makes Charles Clay an intriguing play vs. the Jets.

Charles Clay could be in for a big role in the Buffalo Bills’ offense this week, but that will not happen if his knee injury keeps him out.

Clay is listed as questionable to play vs. the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. He did not practice Monday before getting in limited sessions the last two days.

With Sammy Watkins’ foot injury possibly holding him out Thursday, somebody else has to step up in the Bills’ offense. Watkins is listed as questionable for Thursday, though it looks like Clay is more likely to play.

Against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, Clay caught two passes for 40 yards on three targets. He had a big 2015 season with 51 catches, 528 yards and three scores in 13 games.

Fantasy Impact: Clay’s uncertain status hurts his value this week and that has him on the edge of being a TE1. His matchup with the Jets has led to him being the 20th-ranked tight end by Yahoo! this week in terms of fantasy projections.

They see Clay catching around four passes for 38 yards and no scores. If Watkins were to miss this game, those projections would be higher.

Because this is the first game of the week, your final decision does not need to be made until the inactives come out. Whatever happens, try and keep Clay out of your starting lineup this week.
