Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Sammy Watkins a tough call vs. Jets

New, comment

Sammy Watkins’ lingering foot issue has made him one of the tougher calls in terms of fantasy wide receivers.

Sammy Watkins is having a bad start to his 2016 season. After tossing up a Week 1 dud, Watkins is now questionable to play vs. the New York Jets in Week 2.

Watkins is dealing with soreness in his foot, on which surgery was performed in April to repair a stress fracture. That led to him slowly being worked in during training camp and the preseason, which was thought to be why he was rusty in Week 1.

Watkins said earlier this week that he was “definitely” playing Thursday, and it looks like he will suit up vs. the Jets. He likely will be matched up with Darrelle Revis, who was torched by A.J. Green last week.

Fantasy Impact: A healthy Watkins is always worth starting in your fantasy league. However, his uncertain status for Thursday night is hurting his value going into Week 2.

Watkins’ matchup with the Jets has him being the 30th-ranked wide receiver by Yahoo! this week in terms of fantasy projections. They see Watkins catching four passes for 61 yards and no touchdowns.

Keep track of your lineup heading into Thursday’s inactives for this game. As long as Watkins is not among them, start him this week.
