Fantasy Football start/sit advice, Week 2: DeAngelo Williams is more than just a good backup

The Steelers’ running back will look to continue his success against the Bengals this week. We explore the fantasy implications.

Not many would have predicted that the first recipient of the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award in 2016 would be a 33-year-old backup running back. But that is exactly what Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams did last week after he gained 171 total yards and scored two touchdowns on 32 touches in the Steelers’ 38-16 win over Washington last Monday.

Fantasy Impact: In Week 2, Williams and Pittsburgh will be facing off against their division rival in the Cincinnati Bengals. It is hard to imagine that the Steelers’ running back will have as much success this weekend as he had against Washington, but his production should still remain pretty high.

Based on the fact that New York Jets running back Matt Forte was able to gain 155 total yards on 27 touches against Cincinnati last week, there is no reason to think that Williams cannot have a similar game versus the Bengals on Sunday.

Yahoo!’s projections for the Pittsburgh running back envision him gaining 108 total yards on 22 touches this weekend. Since he plays on one of the NFL’s most talented offenses, there is also a good chance that Williams will find himself in the end zone at least once against Cincinnati on Sunday.
