Jonathan Stewart injury update: Panthers RB questionable for fantasy owners [UPDATE]

We break down the fantasy implications of an ankle injury limiting Jonathan Stewart ahead of the Panthers vs. 49ers matchup.

Editor’s update: Ian Rapoport tweeted Stewart is feeling no ill effects from his ankle injury, and is expected to play.

The Carolina Panthers are listing Jonathan Stewart as questionable vs. the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Ron Rivera did say on Friday that he expects Stewart to play, according to Black and Blue Review reporter Bill Voth.

Stewart is dealing with an ankle injury that had him limited in practice this week, but the expectation is he will play in Week 2. He rushed for 64 yards on 15 carries in Week 1 vs. the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact: Stewart is the workhorse running back in this offense as long as he is healthy. It does not look like this injury will affect his workload much if at all vs. the 49ers, who allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs in 2015.

As long as he is active for this game, start Stewart in any league in which you own him. The potential for a big game is too high for him to be on your bench this week.
