The Cincinnati Bengals ruled out Tyler Eifert for their Week 2 clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Eifert is currently running at half speed and expects to miss a couple more weeks, according to ESPN reporter Bob Holtzman.
Eifert is recovering from offseason ankle surgery, which continues to have him only working on the rehab field at Bengals practice. He looks very likely to miss Week 3 vs. the Denver Broncos, and probably will miss Week 4 vs. the Miami Dolphins on a short turnaround for Thursday Night Football.
Fantasy Spin: Eifert is dangerously close to being cut-worthy right now, and with no clear return date in sight, cutting him may be a good move in smaller fantasy leagues.
If nothing else, you need to have one or two other tight ends on the roster to account for Eifert missing several more games. For the time being, C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft are working in a committee approach in the Bengals offense.
